From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ali Osman Boyner (born 1926) is a Turkish businessman, the founder of a number of large Turkish clothing manufacturing and retailing enterprises including Altınyıldız, from which sprung Boyner Holding, and Beymen, one of the two most upscale Turkish department store chains.[1][2][3]

Boyner was born in 1926 in the Tosya district of Kastamonu province. His father was Osman Feyzi Boyner. Hasan Boyner, Fazıl Boyner, Güzide Boyner are their brothers. He graduated from Sultanahmet Trade High School in Istanbul, then the Sultanahmet Higher Trade School.[1][2]

Ali Osman Boyner founded Altınyıldız in 1952 with Ahmet Sadıkoğlu, Hasan Boyner and Fazıl Boyner. Altınyıldız Mensucat ve Konfeksiyon Fabrikaları A.Ş., which is a Boyner Holding company today, was established in 1952 to introduce Turkish fabric to the world, and started its first exports in 1956.[1]

At the end of the 1960s, Boyner entered the ready-to-wear sector in order to create a supply of products that were not available in Türkiye. After long research, he planted the first seeds of what would become the upscale department store Beymen, collaborating with friend and fashion designer Kerim Kerimol and Italian fashion house owner Silvano Corsini. Beymen's first store, featuring private-label products, opened in 1971 in Şişli, Istanbul. The Beymen Club collection brought a different dimension to the understanding of sportswear in 1985 and is now also sold in separate Beymen Club boutiques.[1]

In 2004, Çarşı Mağazacılık was named Beymen Büyük Mağazacılık (Turkish: Beymen Retailing). Osman Boyner handed over the chairmanship of Boyner Group of Companies to his son Cem Boyner in 2010. He assumed the position of honorary president.[2]

Ali Osman Boyner was also among the founders of the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD). He was the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Boyner Group from the day it was founded in 2010. He left the chairman of the board of directors to his son Cem Boyner in September 2010.[1]

Boyner is married to Ayten Boyner. Besides his son Cem he has a daughter named Neylan Dinler.[1]
